The government is preparing to consider a new policy that would make scholarships available to all parliamentarians in Antigua and Barbuda.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne confirmed that he will recommend the measure when Cabinet convenes for its next session.
According to Browne, the move is essential to ensure that elected officials have the opportunity to develop their skills and qualifications further, strengthening their ability to serve the nation effectively.
Further details on how the scholarship programme will be structured, funded, and administered are expected to be outlined once Cabinet has reviewed and discussed the proposal.

PM I hope you are serious and not just throwing shade
I like that idea. So now all of you will be on somewhat of the same level. Who turns down free education anyway. Make me a senator please cause i could do with a few degrees
Wait… scholarships for parliamentarians? What about the ordinary students struggling to pay tuition? Priorities seem off here.Interesting idea, but it risks being seen as self-serving unless the government clearly explains how this will benefit the public.
Education should never stop, even for leaders. Offering scholarships ensures they can keep up with global best practices
This is a smart investment in leadership. If our parliamentarians are more skilled and qualified, the entire country benefits from better decision-making
let me see if I get this right, scholarship for ministers but poor people must go through a means process or whatever they called it to make sure that they really can’t afford to pay and is in need of the scholarship.
Make it make sense and folks under here saying it’s a good idea. smh
Ar you lub knock bout in thus country jack
Great move! The better our leaders are educated, the better equipped they’ll be to negotiate internationally and represent Antigua and Barbuda
Many MPs come from different professional backgrounds. Scholarships can help them expand their expertise to serve all areas of governance
I fully support this. Stronger knowledge leads to stronger policies, and that’s what Antigua and Barbuda needs
