In 24 hours, Police and Customs seized nearly 100 pounds of cannabis during joint drug operations at V.C. Bird International Airport and Deep Water Harbour.
According to reports, on Wednesday, September 24, law enforcement searched the Deep Water Harbour Cargo Area and found two cardboard boxes with forty vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis.
The boxes and their contents were transported to Police Headquarters for further examination. The total substance weighed forty (40) pounds and had an estimated street value of $240,000.
On Tuesday, an operation at the airport Cargo Shed uncovered two cardboard boxes containing fifty-two vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis. The 52 pounds of drugs, valued at approximately $312,000, were seized and taken to Police Headquarters.
Both seizures disrupt the illegal drug trade and showcase the cooperation between Police and Customs in protecting Antigua and Barbuda’s borders. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
