Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced his intention to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) beginning in January.
Speaking on his weekly radio programme on Saturday, Browne revealed that he will be contacting the University of the West Indies (UWI) on Monday to formalize his application.
While he did not specify the field of study, the Prime Minister said the decision reflects his personal commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence.
Browne, who already holds a Master’s degree, has long been an advocate for higher education among his colleagues and the wider public.

He has frequently encouraged parliamentarians and supporters of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party to take advantage of opportunities for continued education, particularly through the UWI Five Islands Campus.
Several parliamentarians are already taking advantage of UWIFIC, including Senator Lamin Newton and Colin O’Neal. Opposition MP Kelvin Shugy Simon is also pursuing his degree there.
