Antigua and Barbuda Crowned the Caribbean’s Leading Conference Destination

Antigua and Barbuda has claimed yet another prestigious tourism accolade, World Travel Awards 2025 Caribbean’s Leading Meeting and Conference Destination, cementing its status as a rising powerhouse for global gatherings.

The twin-island nation outshone Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and The Bahamas to secure the regional title, a victory that underscores its fast-growing reputation in the lucrative MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector.

Tourism Minister Charles “Max” Fernandez hailed the win as “a proud moment for our people and our tourism industry,” noting that the award recognizes both the country’s expanding tourism infrastructure and the professionalism of its hospitality workforce.

“This prestigious recognition is a testament to our country’s growing and expanding tourism product, as well as the world-class level of service, amenities, and accessibility we offer to host international conferences and meetings,” Minister Fernandez said.

He credited several major events for elevating Antigua and Barbuda’s international profile, including the United Nations SIDS Conference in 2024, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Marketplace in 2025, and the OAS 55th General Assembly held in June.

The Minister added that anticipation is already building for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 2026, which will bring world leaders to the island and further enhance its credentials as a conference hub.

“This award highlights our exceptional hospitality, stunning venues, and vibrant culture, making Antigua and Barbuda an ideal choice for international events. We look forward to continuing to welcome global delegates to our beautiful twin-island nation,” Fernandez said.

The win marks yet another feather in Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism cap reaffirming that beyond sun, sea, and sand, the destination is ready to do serious business on the global stage.
