Shabo Nedwell
Police are investigating a frightening pit bull attack that left a 27-year-old Cashew Hill woman nursing multiple bite wounds after visiting a relative’s home in Skerritt’s Pasture on Friday afternoon.
The victim, Shabo Nedwell, remains hospitalized in stable condition after sustaining deep puncture wounds to both legs and a torn lip. Medical staff described the injuries as serious but not life-threatening.
The dogs’ owner, Stacy Simon, told authorities that her niece arrived unexpectedly at around 3:40 p.m. and entered through the back door without prior notice. Moments later, Simon said she heard “terrifying screams” and rushed to restrain the two pit bulls.
Neighbours reported hearing the commotion and said the scene was chaotic as family members scrambled to subdue the animals and get Nedwell to medical care.
The incident, which unfolded at Simon’s home in Skerritt’s Pasture, has reignited public debate about the control of aggressive dog breeds and the responsibility of owners to properly secure their pets.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the matter remains under active investigation, with no word yet on whether the animals will be seized or if charges will be filed.

Sad situation all around!
Aunty must feel horrible this happened to her niece due to her dogs
Niece will have the emotional and physical scars that will likely last a lifetime.
Poor dogs just protecting their territory.
Speedy recovery!
Was her niece aware that there were two. Trained attack dogs in the house when she walked to the back door and entered unannounced.
The bites on her leg sound normal, but the bite on her lip?????
What in the name of corn chips is this? Very unfortunate. Wow take this as a lesson to not just show up at people place cause there could be consequences. very sad
Every minute is another pit bull attack! How many more people have to get mauled before something serious happen?
Some of them raising them like they training for fight! That’s animal cruelty and a danger to the public.
LORD That young woman coulda dead! And to think the auntie knew the dogs were a danger but she still didn’t listen and have the audacity to hide them. She should be charged.
People raising these dogs to look bad and act bad. Then when they bite, is always ‘they never do this before
People need to take responsibility for their dogs Pit bulls can be loving animals, but if you can’t control them, you shouldn’t own one.
I pray for full recovery for you. So beautiful. They ened to take down these dogs., Why would anyone have such animals in their homes and have them loooooooooooooooooooooose like that. Why didn’t it bite the owner? Chupzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
These owners always got excuses after the fact ….‘she come through the back door
Pit bulls can be loving animals, but when not trained or restrained, they pose serious danger. Something needs to change.
Lock them owners! You can’t be keeping them dangerous dogs and have people nearly lose their life!
