UPP Progressive Youth to Host Town Hall Meeting on ‘VehicleGate’ Scandal
The United Progressive Party (UPP) Progressive Youth is set to host a public town hall meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Freedom Hall, located on Lower Newgate Street, starting at 7 p.m.
The meeting will focus on the ongoing “VehicleGate” controversy and the group’s renewed call for an independent investigation into what it alleges is widespread corruption and misuse of public resources within the government.
According to organizers, the forum aims to engage citizens in open discussion about accountability, transparency, and integrity in public office, with particular attention to the operations of the Public Works Ministry.
In a statement announcing the event, the UPP Progressive Youth said it was time for Antiguans and Barbudans to “say no more” to corruption, misappropriation of public funds, and abuse of power. The group accused the Gaston Browne administration of fostering a “culture of creative enrichment” and called for an immediate and transparent inquiry into government affairs.
The meeting is expected to feature UPP youth leaders, community advocates, and members of the public who will share their views on the issue and outline possible steps toward reform and accountability.
Organizers described the town hall as part of their broader push to involve young people and citizens in the national conversation about governance and ethics in public life.
The UPP Progressive Youth is encouraging residents to attend Tuesday’s meeting, emphasizing that civic engagement and public pressure are key to ensuring transparency and good governance in Antigua and Barbuda.

Finally something shout about. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Can we just agree that ‘VehicleGate’ sounds like something out of a Netflix drama? All jokes aside, if public funds were misused, we deserve answers.

Whether you support UPP or not, public discussion on government spending is healthy for the country.
They can’t even be creative with their naming. Too copy cat. I would really like to hear what they have to say. Not that I am attending but I’m sure I’ll get the message. I must admit this is serious
