Senator Michael Freeland has issued a strong condemnation of the recent series of break-ins affecting schools and institutions across the St. George constituency, calling the incidents “unacceptable” and vowing swift and coordinated action to restore safety.
“These criminal acts are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” Senator Freeland declared. “The safety and security of our students, parents, faculty, and all residents of St. George is my highest priority, and I am working tirelessly with community partners, the business sector, and law enforcement to address this situation immediately.”

In direct response to the incidents, Senator Freeland has already mobilized several initiatives to strengthen local security. He revealed that he has reached out to members of the business community to assist with additional security cameras for affected institutions and announced that a broader installation of community surveillance systems across St. George will soon be underway in partnership with the government.
Community activist Bakesha James has also stepped forward, donating funds to purchase new security cameras for Pigotts Primary School — a gesture Senator Freeland praised as “a testament to community spirit and solidarity.”

Following discussions with Attorney General the Honourable Steadroy Benjamin, Freeland confirmed that increased police presence has been authorized for the constituency’s high-risk areas. Plans are also in motion to establish a community watch group to empower residents to actively protect their neighborhoods.
“I want to reassure every student, parent, and educator in our constituency that your safety is paramount,” Senator Freeland said. “As a community, we will never relent in our efforts to maintain a safe environment where our children can learn and thrive without fear.”
The Senator reiterated his full support for ongoing police investigations into the break-ins. “I stand firmly with our police force as they work diligently to get to the bottom of this situation,” he stated. “The St. George community is united in its resolve that those responsible for these criminal acts will be identified, apprehended, and face the full consequences of the law.”

Freeland urged residents to remain vigilant and to assist law enforcement by sharing any relevant information. “Members of the public who have any information regarding these break-ins are urged to come forward immediately,” he said.
“Information can be reported to the police or via the confidential Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).”
He concluded with a message of resilience: “Our community’s strength lies in our unity. Together, with vigilance, cooperation, and determination, we will ensure that St. George remains a safe place for all who live, work, and learn.”
