Search Called Off for Missing Boat Captain

French authorities have officially called off the search for missing boat captain Philippe Daniel Jules, who reportedly fell overboard while sailing from Antigua to Dominica on Tuesday night.

Jules, a French national, was at the helm of the vessel when tragedy struck. According to reports, he lost his balance after ducking to avoid a swinging sail during strong winds. Passengers on board said the incident occurred around 11 p.m., and despite their immediate efforts to rescue him, Jules disappeared beneath the waves.

The vessel was later diverted to Guadeloupe, where it remains docked as authorities conducted search-and-rescue operations across nearby waters. After several days of intensive aerial and marine searches, officials have now confirmed that efforts to locate the missing captain have been suspended.

Authorities expressed regret that Jules had not been recovered despite extensive operations and favorable weather conditions during the early stages of the search.
