Pastor on Trial for Serious Indecency

A pastor appeared before the High Court on Monday facing two counts of serious indecency allegedly committed against a 25-year-old woman during a massage session in March 2023.

The complainant testified that the pastor had served as her spiritual mentor after she joined his church in June 2022. She said he had provided financial assistance and emotional support during a difficult period when she was struggling with money problems and mental health issues.

According to her testimony, the pastor gave her $400 and drove her to a private apartment on March 18, 2023, where he conducted a massage.

She said she trusted him because he claimed to be a certified masseuse.

She told the court he performed oral sex and penetrated her with his fingers without her consent. The woman said she attempted to push him away and told him to stop after he asked minutes later.

The complainant recorded a conversation with the pastor days later when he returned to deliver additional money. In that recording played in court, he is heard apologizing profusely for something he referred to as devastating and offering to fund therapy sessions while pleading with her not to pursue legal action.

However, in police statements read in court, the accused denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was only showing her the apartment for her to possibly rent.

Under cross-examination, defense counsel Wendel Alexander questioned why the woman accepted money from the pastor after the alleged assault and accused her of being financially motivated. The woman explained she had an urgent debt payment due that week. The defense also noted she had not verbally refused or said stop during the alleged assault and allowed it to go on for about 4 minutes.

The trial continues today before Justice Stanley John.

    • The people trying to use ‘boys will be boys’ arguments about a pastor are disturbed. There is a very obvious power imbalance here, and remember that the fear responses include fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. That poor woman.

  4. To be honest some women have sexual spirits on them and unless thr pastor isnt covered he will fall. Besides why should a married pastor be alone with a woman ?

  6. Crying down on the woman is hilarious. Let’s put the “Pastor” in the spot light. First and foremost his actions are against the will of God and he’s preaching to a congregation. Pretty much sure he’s a married man, cause I don’t think they allow you a pastor until you’re married. So, let’s talk about how religion is failing us in this case. What he’s going to because he’s pastor? Pray hisself out? God don’t reward ugly.

    • Well if she wasn’t comfortable why didn’t she refuse his money a second time this sound a bit creepy but this looks like a case that will be thrown out cause money has been passing and someone was getting their bills paid so it looks like something else was expected and that didn’t fall through like mother like daughter something fishy

  10. That’s a deeply disturbing case but nothing we should say wow about and be shocked about because this happening all over. I will say however that raises painful questions about trust, power, and consent within faith communities.

Ok so lets get on with it now….My proffessional opinion sine I am a shrink….On one hand, the complainant’s account portrays a clear breach of spiritual and personal trust. When someone approaches a pastor for guidance, emotional support, and prayer, the last thing expected is exploitation under the guise of “healing” or “massage.” Her claim that she recorded his apology and that he offered to pay for therapy, will likely weigh heavily in the court of public opinion, if not in the courtroom itself.

On the other hand, the defense’s argument touches on the classic tension in sexual assault cases: credibility, consent, and motive. Their emphasis on her financial dependence and her continued contact with him after the alleged incident seems designed to cast doubt on her account, a common but controversial tactic that can retraumatize complainants while also serving as part of a fair trial process.

Beyond the courtroom, this case shines a harsh light on how spiritual authority can sometimes blur into manipulation when unchecked. Whether the accused is found guilty or not, churches and faith leaders may need to reflect on professional boundaries, especially when offering personal or physical “ministrations” to vulnerable followers.

  11. Give me a break at this point. She knew what she wanted. And she knew what she was going for. She wanted the sex. She wanted her he holiness. She’s just making a story now he doesn’t want to pay up, or cheat anymore. Her free trial is over, just that his trial begin.

  13. My main concern that this ‘man of God’ may be using his position in the community to commit crimes against women. Will he continue to be put on a pedestal because he is seen as a ‘ Good Christian ‘ . Are young children safe to be around him unsupervised?.
I remember a few years ago, it was discovered that a small number of priests in the Vatican were behaving inappropriately towards young boys.
The Vatican hierarchy were allegedly protecting the culprits.

  14. If the allegations are true, this is beyond disturbing. A pastor is supposed to be a shepherd, not a predator. Using spiritual authority to exploit someone vulnerable is the worst kind of betrayal.

  15. That young woman showed courage to come forward, especially against someone in a position of power. Too often victims stay silent because they fear judgment or being blamed

  16. Have we ever wondered why so many young people are running away from Christianity? From church? Because the elders in the churches are making passes on these young men and women. There’s men in the church who would only think sexual about the church sister. Yes the same thing happens in the world, but it’s outrageous when you run from the world and face the same thing in the church. It often leave you no choice. You begin to question God all over again! We need to consider these things.

  18. We keep hearing “innocent until proven guilty,” yet the same leaders preach about sin like they’ve never messed up. Hypocrisy at its finest.

  19. Some women have demonic spirits and lure pastors. Habitual strange women. Every church they go to they end up in bed with these pastors. The pastor who is more spiritual should know better.
