Jury finds pastor not guilty of serious indecency

A jury found a pastor not guilty today after he stood trial in the High Court on two counts of serious indecency allegedly committed against a 25-year-old woman during a massage session in March 2023.

The complainant testified that the pastor had served as her mentor after she joined his church in June 2022. She said he had provided financial assistance and emotional support during a difficult period when she was struggling with money problems and mental health issues.

According to her testimony, the pastor gave her $400 and drove her to a private apartment on March 18, 2023, where he conducted a massage. She said she trusted him because he claimed to be a certified masseuse.

She told the court he performed oral sex and penetrated her with his fingers without her consent. The woman said she attempted to push him away and told him to stop after he asked minutes later.

The complainant recorded a conversation with the pastor days later when he returned to deliver additional money. In that recording played in court, he is heard apologizing profusely for something he referred to as devastating and offering to fund therapy sessions while pleading with her not to pursue legal action.

The pastor initially denied any wrongdoing in his police statements, claiming he was only showing her the apartment for her to possibly rent. However, on Wednesday he admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the woman but maintained they were consensual.

  3. Happy for the pastor. The story was fishy from beginning. She concented. No answer is an answer. From he admired her vagina she should have gotten up but she didn’t. Her blackmail mission failed.

  4. Both the pastor and the so-called victim deserve a public flogging.

    • That so-called pastor should be ashamed of himself. Whether or not the jury found him not guilty, his own words on that recording, apologizing and calling the incident “devastating”, says a lot. A man of the cloth should never put himself in a position like that with someone who looked up to him for guidance and spiritual leadership. Even if it were “consensual” as he now claims, he completely abused the trust and authority that came with his role as mentor and pastor. It’s hard to watch cases like this because they reinforce the perception that too many religious leaders hide behind the pulpit while engaging in conduct that destroys faith in the Church. Morality isn’t just about staying out of jail; it’s about accountability, integrity, and protecting the vulnerable. This man failed on all counts, and his congregation, and the victim deserve much better.

  8. So, HE LIED WHEN HE SAID THERE WAS “NO SEXUAL ACTION” with the victim. Now he SAYS THERE WAS SEX, BUT IT WAS CONSENSUAL!! What am I missing here? ZHE LIED ONCE, THEREFORE HE IS A LIAR!! Why was he given the benefit of the doubt? They are letting this PREDATOR and LIAR, back into society with no repercussions for his acts!! Won’t be long before it happens to again! WHY WON’T WE BELIEVE WOMEN?!! I bet his wife believes in everything he says! SHE SHOULD HAVE CASTRATED HIM!!

  9. Verdict in favor of the pastor… makes you wonder what evidence led to this decision. Justice can be complicated.

  11. God will be his final judge. This may happen to many more young women in the church and he is a married man. May be consensual but you’re a pastor, let’s push aside law for a moment, you’re basically prostituting young ladies if you’re paying them the tithes for some offerings. But let’s leave the rest to God.

  12. This is what happens when power, religion, and vulnerability mix unchecked. The church needs stricter boundaries and counseling guidelines. “Laying hands” shouldn’t mean anything beyond prayer.
