The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has commenced the All Saints Road HDPE Pipeline Project, a key component of its ongoing water network modernization programme. The initiative aims to enhance water distribution efficiency, reduce system failures, and improve overall service reliability for residents and businesses along All Saints Road.

During a recent Cabinet meeting, the General Manager of APUA presented details of the project and sought the Cabinet’s endorsement of the proposed schedule and implementation plan. The Cabinet fully supported the undertaking, recognizing its importance to national infrastructure development and long-term water security.

The project involves replacing the aging 16-inch cast iron pipeline—which has reached the end of its useful life—with new 20-inch and 12-inch High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipelines along strategic sections of All Saints Road. The existing cast iron main has been prone to frequent leaks and declining hydraulic efficiency, leading to recurring water disruptions in surrounding communities.

By installing HDPE pipelines, APUA expects to achieve significant improvements in flow capacity, pressure stability, and durability. The upgrade forms part of APUA’s wider strategic initiative to modernize Antigua and Barbuda’s water distribution system, ensuring it meets the growing demands of consumers while minimizing maintenance costs and losses.

Expected Outcomes of the Project:

• Enhanced water distribution capacity and reliability along All Saints Road.

• Significant reduction in leaks, bursts, and system failures.

• Improved water quality and stable supply pressure for consumers.

• Upgraded infrastructure consistent with APUA’s long-term modernization goals.

APUA officials reaffirmed their commitment to delivering sustainable and efficient utility services, noting that this project is one of several planned upgrades aimed at strengthening the country’s critical water infrastructure network.
