Leroy King,
Leroy King, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC), has died. It is unclear whether he died in prison or at a hopsital but he passed away while serving jail time.
King, 80, of Dickenson Bay, had been the last remaining defendant linked to the massive $7 billion investment fraud orchestrated by Allen Stanford.
King pleaded guilty in a U.S. federal court to one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice and one count of obstruction of justice, admitting that he helped conceal information from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during its investigation into Stanford’s banking empire.
King, a dual citizen of Antigua and the United States, was extradited to the U.S. in November 2019 after nearly a decade of legal battles to avoid facing trial.
As head of the FSRC from 2002 onward, he was responsible for supervising Stanford International Bank’s operations in Antigua.
However, prosecutors said King accepted over US$520,000 in bribes, lavish gifts, and trips to the Super Bowl and on private jets, in exchange for shielding Stanford’s fraudulent activities from scrutiny.
According to court documents, between 2005 and 2009, King and others obstructed the SEC’s investigation into Stanford Financial Group by denying requests for key information and falsely claiming the FSRC lacked the authority to comply.
Stanford was convicted in 2012 and sentenced to 110 years in prison for masterminding the 20-year Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors around the world.
Several others were also convicted and received sentences ranging from three to 20 years.

Lee was a very close friend and a mentor. He made a grave mistake in the actions he took on Stanford’s behalf. Quite a few of us in his inner circle were very disappointed when we learned of his actions. However, we still remember him as a great friend, humanitarian, and a community stalwart! Rest in peace my friend!! 🙏💕

It is sad that King died while serving jail time. May his soul RIP ,
He did commit his life to Christ before he was extradited. “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
He did commit his life to Christ before he was extradited. “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John1:9

Mr Leroy king was a good man. I’m
A very good friend of the King family and I live in the United States. Mr King was a Christian and did lots of good things. He passed away in the hospital surrounded by his love ones.
Please keep his children and grandchildren in your prayers and be kind.
Not one single word for the victims of this crime who worked hard and lost their life savings.
He paid a heavy price for his mistakes. Hope people remember the lessons, not just the scandal
I met this man who made a mistake, a mistake that changed the course of his life and his Family. I do not judge, I trust that he had repent to God for his actions. Leroy, RIP.
It is a terrible thing to lose one’s life savings through someone else’s greed, wickedness or stupidity.
I had never met or knew of Leroy King until I was incarcerated at Butner. I was in Mr. Kings unit at Butner. Even while at Butner, I did not ask or care to know what he had done. I also lost money in Stanford’s investments back in the days. However, Mr. King and I would pray almost every night after lights out at 9pm. We would worship and praise God daily. I know that Mr. King was remorseful and I was at Butner when prison officials moved him to the hospital located on the Butner compound. He was very sick at the time. He never complained or asked for anything. The Bureau of Prisons did not provide the necessary medical care and the system did not release him on his proper date, as he was held for longer than required. Condolences to his family and I know that I will see him again in eternity.
