Police are searching for a suspect who stole a visitor’s bag from a vehicle parked at Old Runaway Beach on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, the incident occurred sometime between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. when the visitor left her brown shoulder bag inside her vehicle while spending time at the beach.

The bag reportedly contained travel documents, a rental car key, a wallet, several identification and credit cards, and a quantity of cash.

Police responded to the report and were able to recover the bag and most of its contents, though the cash was missing. The items were later returned to the visitor.

Investigations are ongoing as officers work to identify and locate the person or persons responsible for the theft.

Law enforcement is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913.

In the meantime, the police are reminding both residents and visitors to remain vigilant and secure their personal belongings, particularly when visiting beaches and other public spaces.

Officials also encouraged the public to play an active role in protecting the nation’s reputation as a safe and welcoming destination for visitors, a key part of Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism-driven economy.
