Police are investigating an incident involving two students who were reportedly found with a small quantity of cannabis at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
According to a police report, officers on duty at the venue around noon on October 20 discovered 6.4 grams of plant material resembling the controlled drug cannabis in the possession of two 12-year-old students from the Ottos Comprehensive School.
Both children were interviewed in the presence of their parents and guardians, and, according to police, provided “useful information” to assist in the ongoing investigation.
They were subsequently released into the custody of their guardians after being “severely warned.”
The report added that the matter has been brought to the attention of the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, who was duly informed of the incident.

Smdh what is wrong with the youth of these days
What ever is wrong with our youth today is as result of Adults of yesterday and today.
This is very worrying. Twelve years old and already caught with drugs? Parents and schools need to be more vigilant. The streets are getting to our children too early.
Ottos Comprehensive inna de headlines again? Lord, put a hedge of protection ‘round dem children. Teachers must tired
We need more positive things for the youths to do. Every day is phone, TikTok, and idle company. When boredom meet temptation, trouble bound to start
That’s really sad and worrying. Twelve is way too young to be experimenting with something like that. It shows how much influence and exposure kids have these days — from older friends, social media, and even adults who treat marijuana like it’s harmless. Instead of just punishing them, this should be a wake-up call for parents and schools to talk openly with children about drugs and choices before the streets do it for them.
The problem is in the law. I was in full support of decriminalisation of marijuana but what we see in Antigua is almost legalization of marijuana.
Do you realize the police really had no authority to interfere with the children? The law needs to include age restrictions, place restrictions meaning places you can’t have it in your possession at all and places you are allowed to smoke it.
Our law permits every man Jack to walk in public with a spliff in his mouth.
Let’s revisit the law and save our children
At 12 I was still playing marble and eating sugar cake. Now these youths out here with weed? Something wrong somewhere
Ah who dem big man selling weed to schoolchildren? Police need to find the source, not just the little victims
Sad situation. Cannabis may seem harmless to some, but for 12-year-olds it’s a doorway to bigger problems. We have to get serious about protecting our kids from negative influences.
