Members of the Jamaican diaspora in Antigua and Barbuda are rallying together to launch a large-scale humanitarian response for families affected by Hurricane Melissa, which recently battered parts of Jamaica, leaving widespread damage in its wake.
A public meeting will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Multi-Purpose Centre in Perry Bay, beginning at 6 p.m., to finalize plans for the relief initiative.
Organizers are calling on residents, businesses, churches, and civic groups to come out in support of the effort.
The relief drive aims to collect non-perishable food items, clothing, water, medical supplies, and other essentials, which will be shipped to Jamaica in coordination with regional partners and local charities.
Organizers emphasized that time is of the essence, as several communities in Jamaica remain without power, water, and adequate shelter following the storm.
Community leaders are urging the public to spread the word and attend Saturday’s meeting in large numbers to ensure a strong, coordinated response.
