The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) is preparing to celebrate International Men’s Day 2025 with a dynamic one-day conference centered on men’s health, identity, and overall well-being.

The event, themed “Healthy Men, Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Society,” will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, and is expected to draw participants from workplaces across the country. The gathering will focus on the physical, mental, and personal development of men, reinforcing the ABWU’s commitment to promoting balance and holistic growth among the nation’s workforce.

A compelling lineup of speakers will headline the conference, including Clinical Psychologist Dr. Feona Charles-Richards, Medical Practitioner Dr. Dwayne Thwaites, and Personal Care Professional Octavia Nicholas. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical workshops, participants will explore key topics such as emotional resilience, preventive health, self-care, and personal grooming — all designed to empower men to lead healthier and more confident lives.

“This year’s Men’s Conference is about celebrating men while also creating a safe space for honest conversations around health, identity, and balance,” said ABWU General Secretary Senator David Massiah. “We want to remind our brothers that taking care of themselves both physically and mentally is a sign of strength. When men are healthy, their families, workplaces, and communities benefit too.”

The program will feature opportunities for networking, reflection, and interactive learning. Attendees will also gain access to wellness resources and expert advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

According to the ABWU, the 2025 Men’s Conference aims not only to honour men’s contributions in the world of work but also to challenge traditional notions of masculinity by encouraging openness and support around health and personal well-being.

By hosting this event, the Union continues to promote a culture of respect, wellness, and shared responsibility, reinforcing the idea that a healthier workforce leads to a stronger society.

  1. I like the theme—‘Healthy Men, Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Society.’ Makes sense that men’s wellness impacts everyone, not just themselves.

  4. Good initiative, but I hope it’s not just a one-day event. Men’s health deserves continuous attention, not just a conference once a year.
