Two plead not guilty to Soca Sangria vehicle break-ins

Two men have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a series of vehicle break-ins during the Soca Sangria event on November 2.

Omar Richards, 19, of Carnival Gardens, and St. Claire Simon, 26, of Barnes Hill, appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel this week where they faced multiple criminal complaints.

Richards and Simon are facing several charges.

The alleged offences include giving false information to police, malicious damage to personal property belonging to several individuals, and theft.

Among the items allegedly stolen or damaged are a Nissan Xtrail key, one black scraper, one Versace perfume, one orange and black item, Victoria Secret Pure Seduction lotion, and Apple Air pods, all valued at $977 belonging to one man. The items were allegedly taken after the accused broke into his vehicle by breaking a glass.

They were also charged for breaking the glass of several other vehicles.

Richards is behind bars for having committed another theft while Simon was granted bail.

Both men are scheduled to return to court on March 4,2026.
