RT Performers Receive Partial Payment After Months-Long Wait

The local cultural group RT Performers has confirmed that they have received three out of four outstanding payments owed to them for performances at national events held more than six months ago.

Earlier this week, group leader Renee Thomas expressed frustration over the lengthy delay in payments, stating that members had been left “frustrated and demoralized” despite repeated calls and follow-ups with officials.

“We have received 3 out of four payments.. we were told by Monday they will finalize. Thank you Antigua.news for your assistance”, Thomas said in a message to our news desk.

However, following the publication of their appeal, Thomas confirmed that the group has now received the majority of the funds owed, though one final payment remains pending.

RT Performers, renowned for their energetic portrayals of traditional Antiguans and Caribbean characters, have been a fixture at national celebrations, including Independence Day, Carnival, and various cultural showcases.

The group emphasized that their concern extends beyond financial compensation to the broader issue of how the creative sector is valued and supported.

The group remains hopeful that the final payment will be made promptly and that future engagements will be handled more efficiently and transparently.
