Deon Lloyd after Boggy Peak altercation

A February court date has been set for the man charged in connection with the country’s first killing of the year that occurred at Boggy Peak.

Deon Lloyd, 42, of Lower Ottos, will return to court on February 9, 2026, for his committal hearing in the shooting death of 35-year-old Javorn Williams.

Williams was reportedly killed on January 2 during a confrontation. He was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot.

Lloyd appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel last week, but the committal hearing was postponed.

Authorities arrested Lloyd while he was receiving medical treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre following the incident. He had a cast on his arm when he made his first court appearance in January.

Lloyd remains in custody at His Majesty’s Prison.
