
The festive season is set to shine across Antigua and Barbuda as the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries, through its Department of Creative Industries, officially launched the 2025 Christmas Home and Business Lighting Competition. The annual event, a well-established tradition, encourages homeowners and business operators to transform their properties into creative and dazzling displays of holiday cheer.
Registration for the competition is now open and will continue until Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Entry forms can be collected Mondays to Fridays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Department of Creative Industries on Old Parham Road (upstairs INET) or at the National Festivals Office on the first floor of the Cecil George-John Building at Redcliffe Street and Corn Alley.
Pre-judging is scheduled for December 20 and 21, with final judging set for December 28, 2025. Winners will be revealed on Good Morning Antigua, Barbuda on Friday, January 5, 2026.
Home entries will be judged by geographic zones, East, West, North, and South, and participants will enjoy multiple incentives, including a 100% electricity waiver from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026, and duty-free concessions on Christmas lights and decorations. Cash prizes for each zone include $3,000 XCD for first place, $2,000 XCD for second, and $1,000 XCD for third.
Businesses participating in the competition will receive a 50% electricity waiver for December 2025, duty-free concessions on lights and decorations, and cash prizes of $3,000 XCD for first place, $2,000 XCD for second, and $1,000 XCD for third.
The competition is expected to boost community spirit while celebrating local creativity. Residents and business operators are encouraged to register early to ensure participation and to contribute to the nation’s festive display. Antigua and Barbuda is set to shine brightly this holiday season as the 2025 Christmas lighting competition brings joy and excitement to communities across the islands.
