DCA Confirms YIDA Project Meets Environmental and Development Standards
The Development Control Authority (DCA) has concluded its review of the master plan submitted by Yida International Investment Antigua Ltd., confirming that the proposed developments within the Special Economic Zone meet national development and environmental requirements.
According to the DCA, the assessment was carried out in collaboration with multiple government agencies to ensure full compliance with established regulations. The review determined that the planned works pose no threat to the mangrove conservation area located within the zone. Current evaluations show that the mangroves remain undisturbed and in healthy condition, maintaining the ecological integrity of the protected area.
The Authority noted that satellite imagery, drone footage, and field photographs included with the notice support the findings. These materials indicate that the mangrove habitats have not been damaged and remain in a near-pristine state.
As the project moves forward, the DCA plans to maintain continuous oversight throughout every stage of implementation. This monitoring is intended to ensure that all development activities adhere strictly to national standards, particularly those related to environmental protection and structural safety.
The DCA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Antigua and Barbuda’s natural resources and emphasized the importance of responsible development within the Special Economic Zone. The Authority is encouraging members of the public to submit feedback, observations, or recommendations through its official channels as part of its effort to maintain transparency and public engagement.
