
Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Recorded Near Antigua and Barbuda
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 was automatically detected early this morning in waters near Antigua and Barbuda, according to the UWI Seismic Research Centre.
The tremor occurred at approximately 3:05 am local time on November 17, 2025, with its epicenter located at latitude 18.93N and longitude 62.71W at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda was situated approximately 223 kilometers northwest of the earthquake’s epicenter. The location also placed it 181 kilometers north of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and 243 kilometers north-northwest of Brades, Montserrat.
The Seismic Research Centre noted that the location data is preliminary and was automatically calculated by computer algorithms. The information remains subject to potential revisions pending evaluation by SRC analysts, who will review the seismic data to confirm the exact magnitude, depth, and location of the tremor.
