Youth Development Officer for the St. Peter’s Branch, Peetron Thomas, has publicly declared his full support for Minister of Public Works, Maria Browne, as she continues to face scrutiny linked to the ongoing “vehicle-gate” procurement controversy.
In a statement shared to the press last night, Thomas praised Minister Browne’s leadership, work ethic, and contributions to national development, describing her as “the best Public Works Minister the nation of Antigua and Barbuda has ever seen.”
Maria, the wife of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, has been under pressure from the United Progressive Party to step down, following the illegal purchase of about 100 government vehicles.
She was the one, according to PM Browne, who uncovered the scandal.
Thomas emphasized that his support is rooted in the Minister’s “proven track record” and her dedication to public service, noting the impact of her initiatives within the Ministry of Works over recent years.
“We stand with Maria. We stand for her truth, her leadership, her womanship, and her strength,” he wrote.
The youth officer also addressed the stream of criticism surrounding Minister Browne, much of it tied to the high-profile vehicle procurement matter that has dominated public discussion in recent weeks. While the investigation and political debate continue, Thomas insisted that detractors would not derail the government’s development momentum.
He reaffirmed his confidence in Minister Browne’s ability to “advance her work and continue building on her achievements for the benefit of all Antiguans and Barbudans,” adding that her commitment remains unwavering despite the controversy.

Petron AGAIN!!!!!! CANT get a break from you no matter how I try
Good to see people standing by their leaders, especially when the facts are still being sorted out.
Why this ozempic needing dude dont get off the news….chupz
So instead of calling for transparency, Peetron writing poetry? ‘Womanship and strength’? Sir, we want facts, not fan club statements.
People wah accountability. Peetron wah clap back for brownie points. Antigua see what going on
Support is one thing, but transparency is still needed. Personal loyalty shouldn’t replace proper accountability.
