
Sir Ronald Sanders
Sir Ronald Sanders, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), will be honored by the University of Guyana.
He will receive the Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) at the university’s 2025 Convocation.
The award will be presented on Saturday during the Faculty of Social Sciences graduation ceremony at the Turkeyen Campus in Georgetown.
The University’s Special Conferral Committee praised Sir Ronald as “a transformative figure in diplomacy, business, and academia,” citing his dedication to diplomacy, good governance, and Caribbean advancement.
He was earlier honored by the University of the West Indies with an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.).
Over five decades, his roles have included Ambassador to the United States and the OAS, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador to the World Trade Organization, elected member of UNESCO’s Executive Board, and a leading advocate for the rights of small states in global affairs.
