Prime Minister Gaston Browne
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has hailed Thursday’s Throne Speech as a “glowing” and comprehensive outline of his administration’s progress and future ambitions.
Speaking to ABS following the delivery by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams, Browne said the address clearly highlighted “significant achievements in all sectors,” reflecting the government’s continued push to improve living standards for Antiguans and Barbudans.
“We have made significant achievements in all sectors, and the Governor General was able to expound on all our successes,” the Prime Minister said, noting that the presentation underscored his administration’s steady development agenda.
Browne described the speech as “exciting” and “filled with significant content,” adding that Sir Rodney’s delivery was both strong and engaging.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister affirmed that his government remains committed to expanding special social programs aimed at building homes, raising salaries and wages, and creating broader opportunities for citizens.
“We are seeking to reach new heights,” Browne said, insisting that the government will continue to strengthen the social fabric and improve the quality of life across the nation.

Would we have expected the PM to say anything contrary
I’m a woman of a certain age who can remember how Antigua was growing up and I can truly say Antigua has come long way under Prime Minister Browne stewardship. You don’t have to like him to acknowledge that. Just give jack his jacket. So keep pressing on my beloved Prime Minister inspite of and despite of the haters. They just jealous they’re not as great as you.
The PM can call the speech ‘glowing,’ but speeches are always polished. What matters is whether these promises reach the ground in real, measurable ways. People judge ‘new heights’ by results
