Jerome Marsh died lastnight following an accident in Parham.

Members of Antigua and Barbuda’s Drag Racing Association, in addition to friends and loved ones, have flooded social media with tributes to Jerome Marsh, who died following a serious two-vehicle collision in Parham on Friday night.

Marsh, a well-known member of the association, was behind the wheel of a yellow Toyota Vitz when it collided with a Toyota Noah van.

The impact was so severe that firefighters were forced to use the jaws of life to extract him from the mangled vehicle.

He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Marsh’s 14-year-old son, who was travelling with him at the time of the crash, was also injured and remains hospitalized.

Police say the driver of the Noah van and another passenger in that vehicle sustained injuries as well and are also being treated at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

Since news of Marsh’s passing spread, racers, mechanics, motorsport fans, and friends have been posting messages of grief and support online, remembering him as a committed racer, a loyal friend, and a dedicated father deeply loved within the motorsport community.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

  4. Goodbye Jerome!. So was it really worth it, racing to an early grave? Now you just have to lie still and wait, and wait and wait. No hurry, no speed. It’s no longer your decision. Fortunately, if nothing else, you taught your son an important life lesson: Speed thrills but it also kills.
