
The annual World AIDS Day Church Service was held on Sunday at the St. John’s Seventh-day Adventist Church on Nevis Street, bringing together national leaders, health officials, advocacy groups, and community partners in a unified show of support for Antigua and Barbuda’s ongoing HIV response.
Among those in attendance were Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams, who joined worshippers for the special observance.
Minister of Health Sir Molwyn Joseph also participated in the service, underscoring the government’s continued commitment to strengthening HIV prevention, treatment, and support programmes across the country.
The event saw representation from a wide range of organisations actively involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS, including the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross, Voices, the Ministry of Health, HOPE and the HIV Network, Women Against Rape, MESH, and several other partners and well-wishers who contribute to the national response.
Also present was Dr. Maria Perriera, HIV/AIDS Clinical Care Coordinator, who lent her support to the solemn occasion.
The service, held as part of the annual World AIDS Day activities, highlighted the importance of compassion, awareness, and renewed commitment to ending stigma and supporting those living with and affected by HIV.





Let’s end the stigma
A service like this reminds us that stigma has no place in 2025. People living with HIV deserve compassion, dignity, and proper healthcare.
