Junior Emmanuel, charged in connection with theft, has been denied bail

A Gray’s Farm resident is back behind bars after being charged in connection with the theft of a tourist’s belongings.

Junior Emmanuel of Federation Road went before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel yesterday, but his bid for bail was turned down.

According to the allegations, Emmanuel stole a fanny pack from a visitor on Charles Henry Street on Saturday, November 29th. The pack reportedly held a UK passport, a Samsung A30 cellphone, and an undisclosed amount of US cash.

Senior Magistrate Emanuel declined to grant bail, citing the nature of the accusation involving a tourist, Emmanuel’s prior conviction for robbery with violence, and ongoing concerns for public safety. Junior had only been released from custody in June 2025.

The matter has been postponed and is expected to continue on March 4th, 2026.
