The Prime Minister on Tuesday met with the ten finalists of the UN–Government of Antigua and Barbuda Global Call for Project Pitches, who are currently on island for a Proof-of-Concept Workshop.
During the meeting, the finalists shared a range of innovative proposals designed to support sustainable development and build resilience across the country.
The Prime Minister praised the creativity and technical strength of the submissions, noting that the ideas presented show real potential to address national challenges such as food security, climate resilience, and economic diversification.

He said he was “truly impressed by the caliber of ideas,” adding that the level of innovation reflects the type of forward-thinking the region needs in a rapidly changing global environment.
Several proposals captured the Prime Minister’s attention, including projects focused on expanding mushroom production to create new income opportunities, improving waste management while strengthening energy security through a circular waste-to-energy model, developing a solar-powered hybrid farming system using advanced technology, creating solutions to support marine ecosystems and reduce sargassum buildup, and introducing a modern approach to resolving the Codrington Lagoon barrier breach.
The government considers these proposals important opportunities that can attract investment, support green job creation, and strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s resilience. Officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to backing initiatives that support national priorities and align with the Sustainable Development Goals.

This sounds very interesting. I support anything that supports sustainability and can be a potential income learner for people
Great to see Antigua attracting innovative global thinkers. These projects could really push us forward.
If even half of these ideas take off, Antigua will be in a much stronger position for the future.
Great to see leadership engaging with young innovators directly. It sends a message that fresh ideas actually matter at the policy level.
Innovation thrives when leaders listen; this meeting is a step in that direction.
Impressive ideas, but I hope the follow-through is as strong as the presentations
