Government Senator Clement Antonio has officially resigned from the Upper House of Parliament to take up his new appointment as Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

His departure has paved the way for the rapid elevation of Kiz Johnson, who—just hours after winning the St. Phillip’s South Primary, has been selected to replace him.

Johnson is scheduled to be sworn in as a Government Senator this afternoon at Government House.

Her appointment comes at a pivotal time, as the administration moves to reinforce its legislative team ahead of several major policy pushes.

  3. It breaks my heart that Senator Antonio has resigned especially after my encouraging him to stay the course for God has him positioned for a purpose. He knows his reasons though, so I won’t hold it against him. Congratulations to his successor.

  9. What did we think would have happened. Someone had to resign to make way for more woman power. I’m sure they will both excel in their respective positions
