Inflation Drops as Government Extends Food and Fuel Relief Measures
Antigua and Barbuda’s inflation rate has fallen sharply, dropping to an average 1.4 percent for the first eight months of 2025 a major decline from 6.4 percent the previous year.
So says Prime Minister Browne, who in his budget address on Thursday, credited government action for easing pressure on households.
“Ours is a caring government… we consistently act expeditiously to bring down the cost of living,” he said.
For 2026, he says, the government will maintain ABST-free essential foods, continue subsidies on fuel, LPG and electricity, suspend tariffs on selected staples, and expand its partnership with Guyana to secure cheaper imports.
