The Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU) has regained a seat at the regional leadership table with the election of its President, Bernard de Nully, to the General Council of the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL). The appointment marks the union’s return to regional representation after a lengthy absence.
Antigua and Barbuda secured two additional positions within the CCL leadership: ABWU President Kem Riley was elected 3rd Vice President, while Janela Evanson, General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Public Service Association (ABPSA), was also named a Council Member.
During the conference in Trinidad and Tobago, de Nully served as a featured panelist, underscoring the importance of strong labour institutions and adherence to international standards set by the International Labour Organization (ILO). He emphasized the need for unity among Caribbean unions and renewed commitment to worker advocacy.
The AT&LU delegation, comprising 1st Vice President Lisa-Ann Yearwood and Executive Member Jaquis Browne, reinforced the union’s dedication to strengthening regional partnerships and advancing labour rights.
De Nully said the election positions Antigua and Barbuda to play a greater role in shaping labour policy across the region, adding that solidarity among local unions is essential for sustaining influence at the regional and international levels.

Good for them
