Trinidadian Fugitive Extradited as Five Foreign Nationals Ordered Removed for Immigration Offences

Trinidadian fugitive Cornelius Thomas

A Trinidadian national wanted by authorities in his home country has been handed over to Trinidadian officials following his apprehension during a joint task force operation in Antigua on Saturday night.

Cornelius Thomas, 39, who worked as an assistant manager at Boardroom nightclub on Nevis Street, was detained over the weekend and is being returned to Trinidad and Tobago, where he is wanted in an active criminal matter, officials confirmed.

In addition to Thomas’ extradition, four Jamaican nationals have been ordered removed from Antigua and Barbuda after pleading guilty to overstaying their permitted time in the country.

The group—ranging in age from 28 to 39—appeared before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel in Magistrate’s Court, where they admitted to remaining in Antigua beyond their authorized stay.

The Jamaican nationals are:
• Marcel Parker, 34, an independent contractor residing in Perry Bay
• Kizzy Johnson, 36, a beauty professional from St. John’s Street
• Javon Keroy Watson, 28, a self-employed carpenter from Bendals
• Luckicy Andra McDermott, 34, a barber living in Yorks Village

Senior Magistrate Emanuel issued removal orders for all five individuals. They are currently being held at the Immigration Detention Facility until their scheduled departures later this week.

Authorities say deportations and extraditions of this nature form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security and ensure compliance with national immigration laws.

  1. Wow, so this man was working here all this time? Shows why proper checks at the borders are important. Anyone just come, get their passport stamp, cross customs and then live like a free man!

  2. Sad to see so many people overstaying. The immigration laws are clear, just follow the procedures.

  3. deportation and extradition is two different thing, extradition requires an extradition hearing before the court. a request must be made so don’t confuse the issue. he is deported back to Trinidad by immigration authorities because he is in violation of the immigration laws.

  5. What is sad, is that those who want to live and contribute are the ones who are being deported.
