EAG Launches Two Community Conversations Across NEMMA Villages on Proposed Wildlife Sanctuary

The Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) is inviting residents across Antigua and Barbuda to participate in a new nationwide survey focused on wildlife protection and a proposed conservation initiative for the critically endangered Antiguan Racer snake.

The quick, anonymous survey aims to gather public views on local biodiversity, attitudes toward wildlife, and the importance of safeguarding native species. The responses, the EAG says, will help guide national efforts to strengthen conservation programmes and protect Antigua and Barbuda’s natural heritage.

“We want to hear from every Antiguan and Barbudan,” the organisation said in a statement, noting that public involvement is essential as the country explores new strategies to preserve vulnerable species.
Participants who complete the online form will also have the chance to win prizes.

The EAG is encouraging the public to scan the QR code provided or access the survey directly via the link:

The initiative is being supported by the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), and the World Bank, all of which have been collaborating with local partners to strengthen environmental resilience and biodiversity protection.

  2. Our wildlife has taken a beating over the years. This kind of research is overdue, but at least we’re heading in the right direction.
