Hotel Workers to Receive $25 Weekly Wage Increase from January 2026

Thousands of hotel workers across Antigua and Barbuda are set to receive a pay boost in the new year, following an agreement between the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) and the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, employees at hotels that are signatories to the agreement will receive a weekly wage increase of $25.00, effective January 1, 2026.

The increase will benefit workers across various categories within the hospitality sector, which remains one of the country’s largest employers. Union officials say the adjustment is intended to provide some relief to workers amid rising living costs, while maintaining industrial harmony within the tourism industry.

The ABWU and ABHTA have both emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure fair compensation for workers while supporting the sustainability and growth of the tourism sector, a critical pillar of the national economy.
