Collapsed boardwalk linking Redcliffe Quay and Heritage Quay
Sections of the boardwalk linking Redcliffe Quay and Heritage Quay collapsed earlier today, causing alarm in downtown St. John’s during a peak cruise day when an estimated 12,000 visitors were on the island.
Unconfirmed reports suggested that at least two tourists were thrown into the water and sustained minor injuries.

The incident occurred amid heavy pedestrian traffic along the popular waterfront corridor, drawing immediate attention from nearby businesses, residents, and visitors. Several onlookers expressed concern about public safety in the area, particularly given the volume of daily foot traffic during cruise ship operations.
According to informed sources, the section of the boardwalk that failed is not managed by Antigua Cruise Port but falls under direct government responsibility.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and assess the structural integrity of the remaining boardwalk.
The collapse has renewed concerns about infrastructure maintenance in high-traffic tourism zones, especially during peak periods when thousands of residents and visitors rely on these walkways.

You know how long they asking for that to be fixed.
@ Randy
I am sure people have been asking for a while now. This is ludicrous!
Until the government gets a major lawsuit for something minor from.a tourist, they won’t learn.
Come on people safety first for all- locals and tourists alike.
Smh
So ACP not responsible, but who checking these things before peak season? Or we just waiting for something to fall?
What are you waiting for for it to fall
Thank God nobody dead. With all them cruise people walking up and down there every day, this coulda be real tragedy
All them tourists and we embarrassing ourselves again. Infrastructure by vibes only
Madness yes. Supposed it was someone like me who can’t swim.
Well thank the Lord no one was hurt
12,000 visitors and we lucky it wasn’t worse. This need urgent investigation, not talk.
Somebody’s been sleeping on the job and ought to be held accountable! Now, taxpayers’ money will have to be forfeited as compensation to persons harmed by this total lack of competent management of the Boardwalk!!! SMH!
This is unacceptable. How can something so heavily trafficked just collapse like that? Lemme guess, lack of maintenance
