WATCH: They Cannot Muzzle Me”: Pringle Stands Firm as Police Grill Him in APUA Arson Case

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle

Police are currently questioning Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle in connection with the arson of Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) telecommunications pipes, authorities confirmed today.

Pringle arrived at police headquarters this morning, accompanied by his attorney. Just before entering the station, he described the unfolding situation as “unfortunate” in brief remarks to waiting reporters.

The questioning relates to an incident that disrupted critical infrastructure at Morris Bay, Old Road, where APUA materials were deliberately set on fire, delaying preparatory works for a subsea cable project aimed at improving regional connectivity.

The destruction of the equipment prompted a police investigation as well as public concern over the motives and impact of the act.

  4. Dear Sir: You may be innocent as Jesus, but you put yourself in this predicament by your crass behaviour in parliament on the matter, dearing the authority, when you were dead wrong, instead of begging for grace, which were being given to you and all the other occupying the space illegally and were under warning.

Secondly, you made it worse by going on the scene and cursing like a madman, seemingly threatening retaliation, showing great anger.

How do you expect the police not to at least question you when there was infact a relation by arson of APUA property. It would be dereliction of duty if they did not at least question you. If two men were cursing on the scene of the incident and the next day one of them got their house burnt, would you not expect the police to question the other?

Clearly the retaliation was in response to the legal action taken against your illegal occupation of crown land. Have you sought the publicly tell your supporters to cease and desist from their criminal behaviour? Have you disavowed their actions? Have you expressed regret over your own angry like a madman behavior and the response of your “supporters”?

Take it from someone who have lost their cool one too many time, never let them see you angry again. Cooperate with the police’s and the investigation, and put this matter and angry behaviour behind you.

  9. Nothing personal, but someone’s got to be held accountable if there’s proof. Standing firm doesn’t equal innocence.
