Antigua and Barbuda is closing out 2025 in record-setting form, following a major surge in international flight arrivals at V.C. Bird International Airport on Saturday, December 27.
On that single travel day, more than a dozen international services from major North American and European gateways touched down in St. John’s, supplementing the already active schedule of regional carriers and private jet traffic.
Tourism officials say the heavy rotation of flights reflects the destination’s strong appeal during the peak holiday and winter sun season.
The day’s arrivals included flights operated by Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines, JetBlue, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, British Airways, Norse Atlantic, Air Canada, and Sunwing.
Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment, Hon. Charles “Max” Fernandez, said the robust airlift signals continued confidence in Antigua and Barbuda from major airline partners.

“These flights reinforce confidence in our tourism product and Antigua and Barbuda’s standing as a leading winter sun destination,” Minister Fernandez stated. “We are welcoming leisure travelers seeking our warm climate and 365 beaches, diaspora families returning home for the holidays, and increased home-porting flights supporting the cruise industry. Our investment in airport infrastructure continues to ensure the best experience for all travelers.”
Stay-over arrival figures through November indicate stable overall growth for 2025, with December expected to strengthen the performance further.
Chief Executive Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Colin C. James, credited coordinated destination marketing and airlift expansion for the continued gains.

“Increases in air capacity during high-demand periods this year, supported by targeted marketing and ideal weather conditions, have resulted in sustained performance for 2025,” said James. “December projections confirm another year of growth through V.C. Bird International Airport.”
Tourism officials remain optimistic as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to welcome 2026, with ongoing efforts to further boost airlift, expand marketing reach, and enhance the visitor experience.
