The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) will conduct a major aviation security drill at VC Bird International Airport on Monday, December 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The exercise forms part of continued efforts to strengthen emergency response procedures in accordance with national and international aviation safety standards.
The coordinated operation will involve several key agencies, including the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, Emergency Medical Services, and airport stakeholders.

Despite the heightened presence of emergency teams and vehicles on the airfield and surrounding roads, airport officials confirm that regular airport operations will not be disrupted. Travelers are advised to continue with their standard preparations, as flights are expected to remain on schedule.
Actors will participate in staged incidents, portraying injured passengers to simulate real-world emergency scenarios. Authorities emphasize that the activity is strictly a drill and does not pose any danger to the public.

The ABAA expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and thanked all partners for their ongoing commitment to maintaining aviation safety and security in Antigua and Barbuda. Media inquiries may be directed to Geneva George at the Airport Authority.
