Two Men Charged with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis in Separate Incidents

Police have charged two men with unlawful possession of cannabis following targeted patrol operations conducted in separate areas across the island this week.

In the first incident, 32-year-old Roshawn Elliott of Potters Village was found with 1.1 pounds of cannabis during a police operation in Potters on December 31, 2025. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged.

In a separate case, 48-year-old Terrance “Funk” Roberts of Federation Road, Grays Farm, was charged after officers reportedly found him in possession of 267.8 grams of cannabis along Fort Road on December 30, 2025.

Both men are expected to appear before the court to answer to the charges.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda says it will continue its intensified enforcement efforts to curb criminal activity through strategic patrols across the country. Residents are being urged to assist law enforcement by reporting any suspicious behaviours to the nearest police station.

  3. Come on indeed! Why, given the country’s official stance on marijuana possession, are police locking up citizens/ residents found in possession of such relatively miniscule amounts of marijuana. Mr. PM! Call off your marijuana hound dogs who continue to harass and destabilize the poor and ordinary and set them, instead, on the really dangerous, harmful, odourless hallucinogenic drugs that go deliberately undetected and it’s importers and users unpunished. It’s NOT marijuana that causes our young people to get the wheels of vehicles and attempt to fly from point A to point B!!!! It’s not marijuana that gives people an air of invincibility to casually break into buildings and rob to their heart’s content or pull a trigger without conscience if accosted. Time to retrain the police to intercept these killer drugs that flood our shores in the same manner and quantities as the weapons illegal. Time to stop playing games with people’s lives and livelihoods.

  4. Why is cannabis still treated like this? Seems like such a waste of police time for something so minor.
