Deputy Leader of the Opposition Sherfield Bowen used the Service of Prayer and Thanksgiving to offer special prayers for Venezuela, highlighting the deep concerns many in the region share about the South American nation’s unfolding crisis.

Venezuela has been engulfed in a prolonged political, economic and humanitarian crisis that sharply escalated over the past year.

The situation reached a dramatic new chapter in early January 2026, when the United States military carried out a major operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who were taken to the U.S. to face charges.
