Deputy Leader of the Opposition Sherfield Bowen used the Service of Prayer and Thanksgiving to offer special prayers for Venezuela, highlighting the deep concerns many in the region share about the South American nation’s unfolding crisis.
Venezuela has been engulfed in a prolonged political, economic and humanitarian crisis that sharply escalated over the past year.
The situation reached a dramatic new chapter in early January 2026, when the United States military carried out a major operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who were taken to the U.S. to face charges.

MP Sherfield Bowen speaks at National Service of Prayer and Thanksgiving

We are truly brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. We need Him mow more than ever.
They need all the prayers they can get cause the crisis is not over
Bowen really change. God can forgive any sin. Murder included. Goodnight
I worry about the precedent this sets. Today Venezuela, tomorrow who?
The Caribbean always ends up feeling the ripple effects of these crises
This is why regional unity matters. We can’t face these global storms alone.
We need peace in the region, not more military action
Whatever you think about Maduro, the people of Venezuela deserve stability and dignity
No matter the politics, we have to pray for the Venezuelan people. Too many innocent lives suffering
