The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB) has made a meaningful contribution to youth education with the donation of more than 70 books to Urlings Primary School, aimed at strengthening financial literacy among young learners.
The donation, presented on January 7, included 73 copies of Aunty Honey’s Money: Introducing Children to Money Featuring the Eastern Caribbean Currency, authored by Antiguan writer S. Latoya Weste. The illustrated children’s book introduces basic money concepts in a fun, age-appropriate way, using familiar Eastern Caribbean currency to help students better understand saving, spending, and financial responsibility.
ECAB’s Marketing and Communications Officer emphasized the importance of starting financial education at an early age, noting that early exposure can help children develop healthy money habits and avoid common financial pitfalls later in life.

The books were formally received by grade two teachers on behalf of the school, who expressed appreciation for the initiative and the bank’s continued support of education. Copies of the book will be distributed to students from kindergarten through grade four.
Beyond enhancing financial awareness among students, the initiative also supports local authorship, reinforcing ECAB’s commitment to community development, education, and the promotion of homegrown talent.
