Central Board of Health burial fee increase is now in effect

The Central Board of Health’s revised burial fee structure came into force on January 5, 2026, bringing increased costs and a new maintenance charge for families using public cemeteries.

The updated fee schedule introduces higher grave-digging costs across all age categories. Digging a grave now costs $100 for stillborn infants or children under three years old, $250 for children between three and 15 years old, and $500 for persons aged 15 and over.

The Central Board of Health has introduced an annual grave maintenance fee of $150 per grave. This charge, which applies to one year or any portion thereof, represents a new cost category that families had not previously encountered in the public burial system.

The schedule also addresses private burial places designed to accommodate multiple graves. The first grave in such a plot costs $300, with each additional grave space priced at $50.

The Central Board of Health office on Upper Church Street handles all payments for burial services.
