Night one of the country’s One Nation Musical Festival appears to have been a success with thousands of patrons filling the Antigua Recreation Grounds last night.
Regional support was evident as Dominican and St. Lucian flags could be seen flying high in the crowd.
One of the highlights of the night was Prime Minister Gaston Browne in his persona “Gassy Dread” gracing the stage with Jamaican artist Mr. Vegas.
The lineup featured Jamaican dancehall sensation Masicka, who delivered slow versions of many of his hits. Jamaican reggae artist Capleton, known as ‘The Fireman,’ brought authentic heat to the stage.
Jamaican reggae artist Christopher Martin demonstrated why he’s considered a “Big Deal,” while Jamaican-American singer-songwriter Gramps Morgan added his distinctive flavour to the show.
Signal Band out of Dominica brought their electric hyper bouyon energy, changing up the pace of the night.
Local artists Tian Winter, Claudette Peters, and Burning Flames Band also delivered impressive performances.
Day two is expected to be equally spectacular with headliner Tasha Cobbs Leonard, along with Naromi Raine, Samuel Medas, Johnmark Wiggan, Rashid Walker, Minister Beverly Danvers, Richie Pelle, Madelyn and Dunamis Worship, Melonnie Sadler, and Antiguan Psalmist Robyn beginning at 5pm.
