Shoppers at Epicurean got more cardio than planned on Tuesday after a shockingly low strawberry price triggered what can only be described as a berry serious situation.
Within minutes of staff slashing the price of strawberry packs to an eyebrow-raising $9.85, residents descended on the produce section with laser focus and lightning speed.
In less than half an hour, hundreds of packs were snapped up, leaving behind empty crates, wide smiles, and a few stunned latecomers asking, “All gone already?”
Carts rolled fast, hands reached quicker, and friendships were briefly tested in the name of fresh fruit. One shopper joked that the strawberries “didn’t stand a chance,” while another admitted they grabbed extra packs “just in case strawberry season ends tomorrow.”
Staff members watched the scene unfold in amazement as the once-abundant display vanished before their eyes. “It was like a flash sale,” one onlooker said. “Blink—and boom—no berries.”

The sudden rush is being hailed as a reminder of two universal truths:
Antiguans love a good deal, and at $9.85, strawberries become everyone’s favourite fruit.

This is why you don’t tell your friends about deals.
