Minister Rawdon Turner and Governor General Sir Rodney Williams
Member of Parliament for St. Peter and Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, Rawdon Turner, is marking one year in office, reflecting on his first twelve months of service as a period focused on listening, learning, and laying the foundation for long-term national and community development.
In a statement commemorating the anniversary of his election, Turner said the past year has not been defined by titles or milestones, but by engagement with residents and the early stages of work aimed at improving lives in St. Peter and across Antigua and Barbuda.
“This first year has not been about milestones or titles — it has been about learning, listening, and laying the groundwork,” Turner said. “We have started important work together, but there is still a lot more to be done.”
The minister emphasized that meaningful progress requires patience and collaboration, noting that challenges facing communities cannot be solved overnight. He described development as a gradual process, built through consistent dialogue, practical solutions, and strong partnerships.
“Communities are built step by step, conversation by conversation, solution by solution,” Turner stated. “The challenges we face require patience, persistence, and partnership.”
Turner also reaffirmed his commitment to remaining visible and accessible to constituents, pledging transparency about what can realistically be achieved while continuing to push forward with initiatives aimed at social and urban transformation.
“I remain committed to walking this journey with you — staying present in the communities, being honest about what can and cannot be done, and working every day to turn plans into real improvements for people’s lives,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to residents of St. Peter and the wider public, Turner thanked them for the opportunity to serve and for their continued support.
“This is not the destination,” he said. “It is the beginning. And together, we will continue the work.”

Great job Minister Turner for you have done more in a year than most have done in their entire tenure. Keep up the good work Sir.
The honeymoon period is over. This is where leadership really gets tested.
Good work that’s what you were elected to do. Serve the people. So let’s stop acting like he’s doing us a favor
Happy one-year anniversary, Minister Turner! It’s encouraging to see a leader focused on listening and community engagement.
Building communities step by step is the right mindset. Listening, learning, and collaborating with residents is how meaningful change happens.
CONGRATS I GUESS
Being honest about what can’t be done is better than over-promising.
Give the man a chance. One year can’t fix what take decades to break.
We hear the words, but people want to see more action on the ground in St. Peter.
