Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed that all lots at Pensioners have now been fully sold out, reflecting strong demand from residents seeking investment opportunities and long-term asset ownership.

Speaking on the newly launched Point Morning Show, the Prime Minister said the complete sell-out highlights the appetite among Antiguans and Barbudans for affordable, strategically located land, particularly properties suitable for short-term rentals, Airbnb operations, and commercial development.

Browne clarified that the area was made available to any citizen interested in investing in beachfront property, with the aim of enabling ordinary people to participate more directly in the tourism and real estate sectors.

The Prime Minister explained that the initiative forms part of the government’s broader wealth-creation strategy, designed to help citizens build assets, generate income, and create intergenerational wealth through property ownership.

He noted that many purchasers intend to develop the land for vacation rentals, small commercial spaces, or mixed-use developments, allowing locals to benefit from the country’s expanding tourism market rather than leaving beachfront development solely in the hands of large investors.

According to Browne, the strong uptake at Pensioners reinforces the need to advance similar initiatives, including the Shell Beach development, which he has previously described as a key entry point for citizens who want to invest in tourism without the capital required for large hotel projects.

The Prime Minister has also reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding land access programmes for a wide cross-section of the population, including low- and middle-income earners, as part of its vision to build a “stakeholder society” — one in which more citizens own productive assets and benefit directly from national development.

  6. Next beach land should be Antiguans not residents it’s a smart way to say first come first serve. I can bet you if we get any is one piece is one, if we are true Antiguan we would lease the beach land to non Antiguans birthright maters.

  10. This is how you build generational wealth. My parents never had access to land like this. Respect where it’s due.
