Single-Lane Traffic Continues on Key Roadways as Infrastructure Repairs Advance

Motorists are being advised to anticipate delays as single-lane traffic remains in effect on several major roadways to accommodate ongoing infrastructure repairs across the island.

The Ministry of Works’ Project Implementation Management Unit (PIMU) says the traffic restrictions are necessary to facilitate continued works on Valley Road North, Sir Sydney Walling Highway, and Anchorage Road under the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project.

On Valley Road North, road marking activities, along with concrete and drainage works in the areas of Jennings, Jolly Harbour, and Sugar Ridge, are continuing daily from approximately 8:00 a.m. Similar start times apply on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway, where crews are carrying out road marking, asphalt paving, and shoulder repairs. On Anchorage Road, road marking works are also ongoing during the same hours.

Traffic management is being handled by flag persons, and motorists are urged to follow all instructions and proceed with caution, as heavy-duty equipment is operating near the work zones.

Authorities have emphasized that all businesses along the affected routes remain open, despite the ongoing construction. Road users are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time to minimize inconvenience.
