Zamir O’Garro, one of three men charged with the murder of Arthur James, died at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre this morning, approximately three years after being remanded.

O’Garro reportedly fell ill while in custody on Friday and was transported by ambulance to hospital.

He was said to be conscious and speaking normally during transport but subsequently had to be placed on life support. He died at this morning.

O’Garro had been on remand since 2021. The charges stem from events in October 2021 when James was reported missing. Days later, a burnt-out vehicle containing charred human remains was discovered in the Freetown and Willoughby Bay area. Forensic analysis later confirmed the remains were those of James.

O’Garro was charged alongside his brother Obasic O’Garro and their cousin Uroy Joseph, all from Liberta. Obasic died on February 7, 2024, due to health issues including kidney complications.

  4. Wow… One way or another, God doesn’t sleep. Either that “cuss pan dem” took hold, someone poisoned Zamir, or he had a serious illness we don’t know about… Either way, this is very interesting, that the brothers died two years apart. The cousin better make peace with God, in case he’s next.
