
Mrs. Glendina McKay
The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) is mourning the loss of former Commissioner Mrs. Glendina McKay, who passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 83.
In a press release issued Monday, ABEC extended condolences to Mrs. McKay’s family, friends and colleagues, paying tribute to her years of dedicated public service and her contribution to the country’s democratic development.
Mrs. McKay was nominated by the United Progressive Party (UPP) and served as a member of the Electoral Commission from August 1, 2013, to April 1, 2017. During her tenure, the Commission said she distinguished herself through her integrity, diligence and unwavering respect for democratic principles.

According to her son, Mr. Victor McKay Jr., Mrs. McKay took her responsibilities at ABEC very seriously and was proud to play a role in shaping the democratic advancement of Antigua and Barbuda. He noted that her service on the Commission was a source of personal fulfilment and civic pride.
ABEC described Mrs. McKay as a committed public servant who approached her duties with seriousness and professionalism. The Commission credited her thoughtful contributions and steadfast dedication with helping to strengthen its work, while reflecting her firm belief in free, fair and transparent electoral processes.
As the nation reflects on her life and service, ABEC said Mrs. McKay’s legacy of commitment to democracy and public service will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
